Deep Winter color palette

Deep and cool

Also called Dark Winter

Deep and cool, like a winter night by candlelight.

Dark hair or eyes, strong presence, a cool undertone: you are made for intensity. Deep jewel tones and true black frame your face; light, warm, dusty colors fade next to you.

Deep Winter hair and makeup

Hair

Deep Winter hair color does best dark and cool: black, blue-black, cool espresso. Wine or aubergine tints add interest, blonde hair can deepen toward dark ash brown, and gray can stay striking as steel or clean white. Caramel, honey and golden highlights usually look out of place on this cool depth.

Makeup

Deep Winter makeup can be dramatic without looking overdone. A sheer wine blush leads to ruby, burgundy or raspberry lips, then aubergine, charcoal or midnight blue on the eyes, with black liner if you like it. Skip peach blush and camel, khaki or mustard shadow, which tend to fade next to this strong, cool coloring.

How to wear it

  • Wear your colors close to your face: a top, a scarf, your glasses. Further away, they matter less.
  • Build on your neutrals, then add one or two colors from the palette.
  • Try them in daylight, next to your face: the right ones even out your skin and light up your eyes.

A test can’t see you, so take it as a starting point: try your colors next to your face, in daylight.
